Rohit Sharma chasing big MS Dhoni record in Asia Cup 2023, Check OUT

India skipper Rohit Sharma is close to matching MS Dhoni's record of nine wins in Asia Cup ODIs with eight wins.

In the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, India captain Rohit Sharma is on the brink of achieving a remarkable milestone. Currently the 36-year-old boasts an impressive record of eight wins in nine matches under his leadership in the Asia Cup (ODI). If he secures another win on Friday, he will equal the record set by the former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, who had notched up nine wins in fourteen games during his captaincy back in his time.

Most wins as India captain in Asia Cup (ODI)

  • MS Dhoni – 9 wins in 14 matches
  • Rohit Sharma – 8 wins in 9 matches
  • Mohammad Azharuddin – 5 wins in 7 matches

Should Rohit Sharma successfully guide India to yet another Asia Cup title on Sunday, he will surpass MS Dhoni and become the Indian captain with the highest number of wins in Asia Cup matches in ODIs. Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin stands as a noteworthy figure, trailing behind Rohit in the tally of Asia Cup wins with five wins in seven games.
