Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill have given India a “sweet headache” ahead of 2nd BGT Test

On November 30 and December 1, the Manuka Oval in Canberra will host the practice game between India and Prime Ministers XI.

IND vs AUS BGT: At Perth, Team India did something unthinkable. They were coming on the back of a horrendous Test series loss but straightened up their backs to torment the Australian team. They put up a masterclass as big as handing Australia their biggest defeat at home, also their first at the Optus Stadium. That Indian team did it sans two of their most laudable batters, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill boost to Team India

Rohit Sharma was on paternity leave and thus missed the BGT opener. Incredibly, he did join the team on Day 3, which co-incided with Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Upon his arrival, Rohit started practicing in the nets, hinting that he will walk back into the team from the second BGT Test. As for Shubman Gill, he was struck on his left thumb while fielding during the match simulation vs. India A. The injury occurred on November 16. Gill was replaced by Devdutt Padikkal, a last-minute entrant into the Indian BGT squad. Padikkal had an ordinary stay in Perth, scoring 0 and 25 runs.

In what came as a delightful news, both Rohit and Gill batted together in nets earlier today, November 29. Following India’s training session in Canberra, India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar addressed some questions from the media. When asked about the possible comeback of Rohit and Gill ahead of the second Adelaide Test, Nayar said: “It is a sweet headache. It’s always good to be in a position where you get two top players coming back into your set-up. It builds a lot of confidence. It is good to have them (Rohit and Gill) back. The team is full of heart.”
