Rohit Shardul Argument: IND vs NZ – Shardul Thakur is often called a ‘Lord’. When wickets aren’t falling, or a partnership needs to be broken, skipper Rohit Sharma just throws the ball to Thakur. If the team needs some runs, Thakur will deliver with the bat too but during the 3rd ODI in Indore Rohit was not happy with Thakur. Indian captain Rohit Sharma walked up to Shardul Thakur and unleashed at the bowler for almost 10 straight seconds. Now, Shardul has revealed the real reason behind the argument. Shardul Thakur tells the tale of his and Rohit Sharma’s argument. He stated: “The message was simple, or maybe with other bowlers also, that let them hit cross-batted shots and score runs.” He added, “Pitch was pretty flat, the ground was small, at a time they will hit you a good shot but it’s okay, it is bound to happen and that’s how we’ll get wickets as well, so stick to the plan.”

Put to bat first India posted a humungous total of 385 runs. Rohit scored his first century in over 500 days. The Indian captain was put under pressure as NewZealand at one stage was going great guns. Chasing a humongous 386 to win, the Blackcaps were given the charge by Devon Conway who smashed a sensational hundred off just 71 balls and threatened to run away with the game.

After losing opener Finn Allen in the first over of the innings itself, Conway and Henry Nicholls put pressure back on India with a counter-attacking 106-run partnership, clearly making Rohit worried. Although India chipped away with wickets, Conway was in the middle of another strong partnership of 78 runs with Daryl Mitchell.

Rohit Sharma then throws the ball to India’s go-to man ‘Lord’ Shardul Thakur. First, Shardul dismissed Mitchell with a bouncer and off the very next delivery, he outfoxed Tom Latham with a knuckle-ball.

Despite picking two wickets in the over, Rohit was not impressed with Shardul. As his last two deliveries were smacked for fours by Conway. Shardul tried the short ball twice in a row but Conway was ready for it and pulled them for back-to-back boundaries, and that left Rohit frustrated. He walked up to Shardul and unleashed at him for almost 10 straight seconds.

Besides picking up three wickets, Shardul had a crucial 54-run partnership with Hardik Pandya, scoring 25 runs off just 17 balls, hitting three fours and a six. For his performance, Shardul was named the Player of the Match ahead of centurions Rohit and Gill.
