The Border Gavaskar Trophy is nearing its conclusion and now the focus will shift to the ICC Champions Trophy. But this means the three seniors of the India Cricket Team will get a good one-month break. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested and won’t feature in any game of the upcoming IND vs ENG series. As a result, the trio will be enjoying a one-month vacation before the ICC event.
After the conclusion of the IND vs AUS Test series, Team India will switch to white-ball cricket. India will take on England. First, the team will take on the Three Lions for a 5-match T20I series. And then this will be followed by a 3-match ODI series. And right after the conclusion of the series, 8 days later, India will play their opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy.
No Rohit-Virat in IND vs ENG series
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both have retired from the T20Is after having won the ICC World Cup 2024. And this means they won’t naturally be a part of the 5-match T20I series. And given that the ICC event will be near, the ace batting duo won’t be a part of the ODI series as well.
On the other hand, this can be a good thing for Team India. While Ro-Ko are both regulars in the Indian Team, it can be a test for the BCCI Selection Committee to finalize the Champions Trophy squad and look at some other optional players.
On the flip side, it will be good news for Team India as well. Both the star batters will get a much-needed break to refocus and switch from red-ball to white-ball cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah to get much-needed break
Joining Rohit and Virat will also be ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. After the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah too will get a much-needed break. Speaking about the speedster, he has been in phenomenal form in the IND vs AUS Test series. He has gone on to scalp 30 wickets so far in the last 4 games.
After the conclusion of the series, Bumrah will get his break and miss out on the entirety of the IND vs ENG series. Team India will have to be extremely agile and prudent when they have to take on the Three Lions.
