Rohan Bopanna’s campaign at the ATP Finals 2023 has come to an end. The Indian veteran, along with his partner Matthew Ebden lost in the semifinal of the year-end tournament on Saturday, 18th November. The third seeded duo went down 5-7, 4-6 against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Meanwhile, Granollers and Zeballos keep their hopes fo the World No.1 ranking alive. The fifth seeds won the contest in one hour and 20 minutes in Turin.

The match started with both the pairs holding their serves until the seventh game of the first set. Bopanna and Ebden squandered a break point opportunity in the eighth game that saw the scores level at 4-4.

Granollers and Zeballos went on to break the Indo-Australian pair’s serve and wrapped up the first set. In the second set, Ebden’s double faults proved crucial as it helped Gramollers-Zeballos to go up a break 2-1.

It was enough as they went on to maintain the lead and won the contest in straight sets to advance to the final.

“We are very happy. It is our third semi-final here at the Finals and we are happy to be in the final this time. We will try to enjoy the match and play our best tennis,” said Granollers after the semifinal. The Spanish-Argentine pair will end the year as No.1 if they win the title.
