SA20 2024 Auction LIVE: Veteran Robin Uthappa will become the first Indian player to go under hammer during the auction of second edition of the SA20. Apart from Uthappa, Australia’s Kane Richardson, the Pakistan duo of Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz, and Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews are some of the top names participating in the auction.
SA20 to introduce new ‘Rookie’ player system
Each team must sign a rookie player in the draft, a South African player who is 22 years of age or younger at the date of the auction and has not been contracted to SA20 previously. A total of 80 players have registered for the Rookie draft, which will take place at the conclusion of the player auction.
The Pretoria Capitals have eight players to complete their squad with a purse of $0.577 million, while the Joburg Super Kings will have five slots with $0.363 million to spend. The MI Cape Town have a purse of $0.331 million for five slots and the Paarl Royals have a purse of $0.525 million to fill four slots. Reigning champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape will have $0.109 million for four slots and the Durban’s Super Giants will have $0.102 million to fill two slots.
