Assam’s youngster batter Riyan Parag continued his golden run in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. On Tuesday, Riyan Parag became the first batter in T20 history to stroke seven consecutive fifties. Earlier, he surpassed some legends of the including David Warner, Virender Sehwag, Jos Buttler, Kamran Akmal and Hamilton Masakadza to score his sixth fifty on trot. With the IND vs AUS T20 series coming up, Riyan Parag has given himself an excellent chance to represent India at the highest level.

Chasing a total of 139 runs against Bengal, Assam cruised to win by eight wickets and 13 balls to spare. Apart from Riyan Parag’s fifty, Bishal Roy also played an undefeated knock of 45 runs. Not only with bat, Riyan Parag also scalped two wickets with the ball as he gave away just 23 runs to damage Bengal’s momentum in a crucial match in SMAT.

Overall, Riyan Parag has amassed 490 runs in seven matches. He has an excellent average of 70 and has played a massive role in his side’s quarter-final’s qualification of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Trophy.

Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will definitely keep an eye on Riyan Parag before name the final squad. To note, The first match of the IND vs AUS T20 series will be played on November 23 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
