Risky Root, Lazy Stokes slammed by ex-India opener for antics in IND vs ENG 2nd Test

Aakash Chopra criticised Ben Stokes and Joe Root for their performance in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra criticised England skipper Ben Stokes and veteran Joe Root for their performance in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. While Root tried to play very aggressive, Stokes attempted a effortless run. Both batsmen were dismissed without making much impact, as India won the game by 106 runs.

IND vs ENG: Chopra pulls up Stokes, Root for poor show

In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Chopra ridiculed Root for the shot he got dismissed by and Stokes for the run-out that cost England the game. He opined that England could have scored runs sans these two mistakes. Chopra further claimed that Root was selling himself shortly while Stokes was batting way down the order.

The English batters need to think about something. The shot Root played, if he hadn’t played that bad shot and Stokes hadn’t run like that, the runs would have been scored on the last day as well. It wasn’t easy to pick up 10 wickets here,” Chopra said.

“Thank you so much, England guys. You did our job or else we wouldn’t have been able to get them out that easily. I think Root is selling himself really short. Ben Stokes, firstly, bats too low in the order, which is counterproductive. Secondly, the way he ran, that was lazy in capital letters,” the former India opener added.
