Rishabh Pant’s IPL 2025 nightmare continues with flop show against MI, average drops to 4.75

Being the most expensive T20 player ever in franchise cricket, pressure is bound to creep in Rishabh Pant after consistent failures.

Rishabh Pant’s horror run in IPL 2025 continued after he was dismissed for 2 in Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) home against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Horror IPL 2025 continues for Pant

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL player auctions when LSG bought him for Rs 27 crore. However, he has not been able to repay their faith yet. Pant was dismissed for a duck in his debut for LSG and then managed 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad before being dismissed for 2 against Punjab Kings.

On Friday, LSG had raced away to a blistering start thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s rapid fifty and the stage was set for Pant to make his mark as batter and captain on a good batting track after Nicholas Pooran fell cheaply to his captaincy counterpart.

Pant’s innings was cut short by Hardik Pandya’s clever bowling. Pant attempted to tuck a length ball, but it held up, causing him to get a leading edge. The ball soared towards mid-off, where substitute fielder Corbin Bosch made an incredible one-handed catch, sliding to his left. Pant was dismissed for just 2 runs off 6 balls, leaving LSG reeling at 107/3.
