In what has come as a fresh development, Insidesport has learnt that Indian southpaw Rishabh Pant will play the opening fixture of the newly made Delhi Premier League (DPLT20). Part of the Purani Dilli 6 franchise, Pant is geared up to dazzle the DDCA-conducted T20 league, which is set to commence on Saturday, August 17.
Having said that, he won’t be part of the T20 league for the entirety. Instead, just like most of the Indian internationals, the 26-year-old will feature in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024.
Pant to play DPLT20 opener
Purani Dilli 6 will face South Delhi Superstarz in their first game of the season, which is also the tournament-opener at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Having signed up alongside the likes of Ishant Sharma, Lalit Yadav and Sumit Chikara, Pant will surely be the one to watch out for in DPLT20.

It is imperative to note that Pant is also selected in the first round of fixtures in the Duleep Trophy 2024 squad. With the Duleep Trophy match scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on September 5, Pant is likely to play for Purani Dilli 6 until that period. From DPL’s commencement on August 17 to September 5, Purani Dilli 6 will play all their league games and with Pant being in the offering this is surely a huge boost for the side.
Pant is drawn to Team B in Duleep Trophy and will play under Abhimanyu Easwaran, a stalwart in domestic circuit.
