Rishabh Pant, Purani Dilli 6’s captain in the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20, will be felicitated by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The wicketkeeper batter will be celebrated by the DDCA for helping the Indian cricket team win the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
Hero’s welcome for Rishabh Pant
Team India hadn’t won an ICC title in 11 years, and although Pant wasn’t at his best throughout the tournament, he played a vital role in India’s run to the trophy. InsideSport has learned that the southpaw will be felicitated during the DPL opening ceremony, after the performances of singer Badshah and actress Sonam Bajwa at their home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Moments after being honoured by the DDCA, Pant will take the field as Purani Delhi 6’s captain as he goes against Ayush Badoni’s South Delhi Superstarz in the first match of the DPL T20 2024 edition.

Will Pant play the full DPL 2024 season?
Purani Delhi 6 are slated to play 10 matches from August 17 to September 2. But it’s uncertain whether Pant, the franchise’s captain, will participate in all the games. Given that he’s been selected for the Duleep Trophy, which commences on September 5, it’s improbable he’ll play the last match on September 2.
Pant has played quite a bit since his return from injury in March and could very well be asked by the BCCI to rest in between matches. The DPL semifinals are to be played on September 6 and 7, while the final is slated for September 8. That means that there is no way he will play the knockout matches, even if Purani Dilli 6 makes it past the group stage.
