Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on Tuesday stated that his team would probably miss out on a playoff berth due to his one-match suspension. Pant said DC would have had a greater chance of winning the big game against RCB if he had been on the field.
Rishabh’s ban and DC’s loss
The Delhi Capitals skipper was served a one-match suspension for their game against RCB due to slow over-rate offence twice in the tournament. Pant missed the game where the Axar Patel-led side lost by 47 runs. In spite of winning their game against LSG on Tuesday, Pant’s DC are almost out of contention for a playoff berth, with the team needing SRH to lose both their remaining matches by huge margins in order for them to provide a chance to qualify.
“I think we were very close, as you can see till the last game we are in close contention for the playoffs. You know there are some things you can control, and some things you can’t. You know last match what happened, I couldn’t play. I’m not saying that if I had played we would have definitely [won] but we would have had a better chance of qualifying I guess,” Pant said.

Injury problems
He also talked about the difficulties the team faced during the season with injuries and unavailability of players.
“I think, I would say we started the season with a lot of hope. But we had a few injuries here and there, few ups and downs, illnesses, but as a franchise you can’t complain all the time. You’ve got to make the best use of whatever you have in your hand,” he said.
