Rishabh Pant returns as Delhi Capitals captain for IPL 2024, replaces David Warner

Pant last played a match for DC in May 2022. The superstar wicketkeeper will return after 22 months and will hope to start from where he left off.

Rishabh Pant is back where he belongs! After missing the last season, the star wicketkeeper batter has returned as Delhi Capitals captain for the IPL 2024 season. In his absence, David Warner had helmed the leadership role, but now that the swashbuckling southpaw is here to take back what is his.

While the Delhi Capitals (DC) prepare for their season opener against the Punjab Kings in Vizag, Parth Jindal, DC chairman and co-owner, confirmed that Pant will return as captain.

“We are delighted to welcome Rishabh (Pant) back as our Captain. Grit and fearlessness have always dictated his brand of cricket, and not surprisingly, even his road to recovery. I can’t wait to see him walk our team out once again as we look forward to a new season with renewed passion, vigour and enthusiasm, ” he said.

Kiran Kumar Grandhi also reiterated the same. The DC co-owner praised Pant’s grit and determination. He said:

“Rishabh has worked incredibly hard during one of the most challenging phases of his life. I have no doubt his teammates will take immense inspiration from that as they embark upon a new season. Captain Rishabh and the team has our best wishes.”
