Rishabh Pant opens up on India’s T20 World Cup chances, sledging Virat Kohli and more on popular talk show

Before leaving for USA to play T20 World Cup, Pant appeared in popular talk show 'Aap Ki Adalat' and discussed on various topics.

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has made a successful return to competitive cricket after being out for 14 months. The southpaw suffered a horrific car accident in December 2022 and was sidelined since then. However, following a successful IPL 2024 campaign, Pant successfully made his return to the Indian team with T20 World Cup. Before leaving for the tournament, Pant appeared in popular talk show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. Here are the excerpts.

Chances of winning the T20 World Cup

“Cricket is a game of percentage. If you get more percentage, your chances for victory are better. Looking at the actual environment where majority of the team was selected already, Jeetney Ke Zyada Chances Hain, Hum World Cup Jeet Sakte Hain (We have a high chance of winning the World Cup),” said Rishabh Pant in an episode of Aap Ki Adalat.

Rishabh Pant ‘guarantees’ effort

Ek Cheez Ki Guarantee Pakka De Sakta Hoon (I can guarantee one thing). When we go to the ground, we will give 200 per cent, Yeh Guarantee Pakka Hai (that is guaranteed)..rest if you play good cricket, you have more chances to win,” Rishabh Pant said.

“If I had played 2023 World Cup Final, then we would have either been all out for 150 or 200 runs or would have scored over 300+ runs”.

Sledging Virat Kohli during IPL 2024

“It happened during the RCB game. I was banned without doing anything. I tried a lot to prevent it but it was uncontrollable, not in my hands. Sitting outside I thought I’ll disturb the mindset or something because the RCB dressing room is right behind the sightscreen. At first I did not know. I thought they are calling their own teammates. Then when I realised, I thought I might as well tease him a little more. I didn’t give him the chance to say anything because I escaped,” Pant said.

“I actually take his permission and try out. ‘Let me be free during the match. Let me speak what I feel like. Let me feel the energy and I will lift the energy of the team. I say what I feel like. As long as you’re not thinking ill of someone, everything is fine,” Pant added.
