LSG skipper Rishabh Pant could not have asked for a poorer start as the LSG skipper; the southpaw, in a bid to hit a big six, fell for a duck against his previous franchise, DC in Vizag on Monday. It all happened in the 14th over of the match, where Kuldeep Yadav, his former teammate tossed the ball up, and a tempted Pant went for a biggie, only to be caught by Faf Du Plessis at long off.
Poor Start for Rishabh Pant in IPL 2025
While Nicholas Pooran was giving a hard time to all the DC bowlers, it was Pant, who struggled against the spin of Kuldeep. The skipper found hard to keep going and was out to the chinaman bowler for the third time in the IPL. That just goes on to reflect Pant’s poor record against his India teammate. To elaborate it further, in five innings where the duo have faced off, Kuldeep got the better of the batter thrice.
This innings must have come as sheer disappointment for LSG and Pant, since he was bagged for a massive price tag of INR 27 Cr, by the franchise.

But despite his poor effort LSG were on course for a big first innings total, with Mitchell Marsh and Nichola Pooran slamming lightning-quick fifties. The Aussie scored 72 in 36 with six fours and as many sixes, the Caribbean batter went a step further with 30 ball 75, including 7 maximums.
But just like Pant, it was an off day for Aiden Markram, who was out for 15, from 13 deliveries. So far, Kuldeep and Axar Patel were pick of the bowlers for DC, who displayed figures of 1/19 and 0/12 in their quota.
