KKR must be a happy team right now. Not only their vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer finally bounced back to form, but their batting mainstay and retention, Rinku Singh performed with the bat after IPL 2023. Yes, you got that right. It was in 2023, that the southpaw batter came up with substantial performances in the IPL, and was a complete dud in 2024.
Rinku Singh Finally Shows Some Form in IPL 2025
Coming back to the KKR vs SRH match, Rinku Singh blasted 32 from 17 balls, which is surprisingly his highest since last year. He slammed four fours and a six to get past his previous best in the last two years, of only 26. In KKR’s trophy-winning campaign, Rinku had minimal, or in fact, no contribution at all.
Venkatesh Iyer’s Blitz Takes KKR to 200/6
In 15 matches he had scored only 168 runs at an average of 18, and a strike-rate of 148. Out of those, he had two not outs also, that improved his average a touch. Otherwise, it was a forgettable season for him. The 17-year-old was enduring a poor season in IPL 2025 as well, where he had returned with scores of 12 and 17, and did not get to bat in the match vs RR.
Now, having gotten this performance under his belt, it will only hold him in good stead. Meanwhile, Iyer was at his very best as he slammed 60 in just 29 deliveries to take KKR to 200/6 in 20 overs. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane chipped in with 38 from 27, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 50 from 32. That, when KKR were reeling at 16/2 at one stage.
