CSK vs KKR: Rinku Singh, Andre Russell flop against Chennai Super Kings, Shreyas Iyer saves KKR from blushes

It hasn’t been the game that Kolkata Knight Riders expected in the CSK vs KKR clash. The entire batting order collapsed as CSK’s masterplan to restrict KKR worked wonders at Chepauk. Ruturaj Gaikwad very cleverly opted to bowl first after winning the toss. KKR pinned their high hopes on designated finishers – Rinku Singh and Andre Russell, but the duo faltered massively.

Injured Sunil Narine played a strong innings after Phil Salt departed for a golden duck. The ace all-rounder registered a 27-run vital knock. He was joined by youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi who managed to score 24 runs. But the saving grace for KKR was their skipper Shreyas Iyer with a score of 34 runs.

KKR Batting Collapse – Rinku & Russell Flop

Despite a poor start, Kolkata Knight Riders have often depended on their designated finisher duo of Rinku Singh and Andre Russell. However, the duo have flopped completely today. Both the hard hitters failed to connect their shots. Rinku failed to hit a single boundary, while Russell managed to hit just 2 fours.

Rinku Singh hasn’t managed to fire in IPL 2024. He played a sluggish innings of 9 runs from 14 balls. On the other hand, Andre Russell manged to score 10 runs from equal balls, despite hitting 2 fours.

Shreyas Iyer saves KKR from blushes

The only saving grace for KKR was their skipper Shreyas Iyer. The ace batter played a recovery innings. He played sensibly, scoring 34 from 32 balls. Had Iyer failed, KKR might have managed to score a tad higher than 100 run mark. Iyer went on to hit 3 fours but failed to find a partner to build an innings.
