Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has turned down an offer for becoming England’s next head coach. The team is looking for a new white-ball coach following the stepping down of Matthew Mott. Ponting declined the offer citing the time taken up by international jobs and stated that he was not ready for it at the moment.
Ricky Ponting prefers IPL over England coach job
Ricky Ponting stated that he was more focused on Australia’s upcoming assignments rather than taking up a coaching role for a team at this moment.
“I’ve got other commitments as well, with my TV work and things that I do and also trying to balance that out with having a decent amount of home time, which I haven’t had much of the last couple of years anyway,” Ponting told ICC.
Ricky Ponting to return to IPL?
Former Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has expressed his desire to return to the coaching role in the IPL. The ex-Australian skipper’s statement comes days after he parted ways with the franchise after a fairly long association with the team.
“So it is what it is, we’ve decided to part ways and we decided to move on but that doesn’t mean that I won’t be coaching again. I’m very keen to get back involved in the IPL. There might be a few opportunities coming up and we’ll see what happens over the next few weeks,” Ponting told Cricbuzz.
