Both Shane Warne and Rodney Marsh died on March 4, 2022

Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Rodney Marsh was hospitalized on March 2 after suffering a heart attack and died on March 4, 2022. On the very same evening, Warne was found dead in his villa on Koh Samui, Thailand. The reason for his death was also said to be a heart attack.

Marsh made his debut in 1970 before retiring in 1984 with what was then a world-record 355 Test dismissals. He played a total of 96 Test matches for Australia. Shane Warne made his Test debut in 1992. Warne played 145 Test matches and took 708 wickets with a bowling average of 25.41.

Dean Jones suffered the same fate in 2020

Dean Jones died in Mumbai on September 24, 2020, after suffering a heart attack. He was 59 at that time. Jones was in Mumbai as a commentator for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Jones suffered a massive heart attack in the lobby of the hotel where he was staying during the commentary stint. Jones played 52 Tests for Australia and scored 3631 runs at an average of 46.55 with 11 centuries. Jones also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs at 44.61 with seven centuries. He was part of Australia’s 1987 World Cup-winning squad.

Another Australian player, Ryan Campbell, suffered a heart attack and was placed in an induced coma by doctors after collapsing in April this year. However, Campbell made a full recovery after being kept in the ICU for a considerable time in a prominent hospital in the UK. In the recent past, several former cricketers have lost their lives owing to a heart attack. The fans from all around the globe will be praying for Ponting’s well-being and hoping that the Australian legend recovers soon.
