Not just the biggest International T20 League of the world, but also the richest. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has earned 2400 crores from last year’s IPL edition. As per the apex cricketing body in the country, for IPL 2022 they have earned around 2400 crores of money. Ever since its inception back in 2008, IPL has been at the center of glamour and money and the latest audit report showcases that.

The BCCI is one of the richest sports bodies in the country and the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been one of the key reasons for the influx of the cash. Not only has the IPL been able to retain the top international stars of cricket, but also have kept the showbiz high and buzzing.

The BCCI posted their audit reports for a span of 5 years which showcased that they have made $2.7 billion till April of 2022. As for the breakup of the figures, the BCCI earned $292 million (2400 crore( as profits from $771 million in revenue with an expense of $479 million.

The BCCI has been hush about releasing the finance details. They last disclosed the same back in 2017. As for the broadcast and the streaming deals, once again the BCCI made lots of bucks with the sale of the rights for a span of 4 years, 2023-27 for a whopping sum of $6.2 billion. While Disney retains their rights for broadcast, Viacom won the streaming rights.

This magnificent sum from the deals is around 2.5 times the previous 5-year deal that was with Disney and Hotstar. This year in 2023, the BCCI launched the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) which made a earning of $700 million.
