Richa Ghosh delivers stellar performance, slams gritty 37-ball 62 against UP Warriorz

Richa Ghosh was eventually dismissed by Deepti Sharma while trying to play a pull scoop.

Richa Ghosh delivered a standout performance with the bat for the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) against the UP Warrioz-Women, during the second match of the ongoing WPL 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Coming in at a precarious 54/3, Ghosh showcased her resilience by batting until the 19th over. Initially, she scored 16 runs off 16 balls before accelerating her innings, reaching a fifty off just 31 deliveries. The 20-year-old right-handed batter displayed her attacking prowess, smashing 62 runs off 37 balls at a remarkable strike rate of 167.57, aided by 12 boundaries.

During her innings, Ghosh formed a crucial 71-run partnership with Sabbhineni Meghana for the fourth wicket. Unfortunately, her innings came to an end when she was dismissed by Deepti Sharma while attempting a pull scoop shot.

Ghosh’s stellar performance comes on the heels of her impressive 96-run knock against Australia in the recent ODI series. With last year’s below-par season behind her, where she managed only 138 runs in eight games, Ghosh is determined to maintain her sublime form and make significant contributions for RCB-W throughout the tournament.

The team posted a competitive total of 157/6 in their allotted 20 overs, buoyed by half-centuries from both Ghosh and Sabbhineni Meghana. Meghana scored 53 runs off 44 deliveries, featuring six boundaries and seven sixes in her innings.
