Rohit welcomed his second child on November 15, a week before the 1st Test kicks off, and decided that he'll spend some more time with his family and join Team India later.

Rohit Sharma has made the right call by staying back with his family following the birth of his second child with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. That’s what Michael Clarke thinks. Father to a daughter himself, the former Australian captain is fully behind the decision taken by the Indian captain before the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test in Perth.

Clarke backs Rohit Sharma’s choice to skip Perth Test

The 2015 ODI World Cup-winning captain opened up about how the birth of his daughter was the greatest day of his life and that no cricket moment can match it.

“The greatest day of my life, over every cricket event, over any Test match victory or captaining Australia, the greatest day of my life was when my daughter was born. And being there for the moment was the most special moment of my life. 100% if I were having my daughter and I had cricket on; I love cricket, I love representing my country, and I love captaining Australia,” Clarke told RevSportz.

The Aussie said he doesn’t have a shadow of a doubt that Rohit Sharma loves playing for India as much as he does for Australia. Clarke added that Team India would miss Rohit, the batter and captain, but one has to respect the decision he made.

But family always comes first; it has to. To be there for my little girl, I’d do it every day of the week. I completely respect and agree with Rohit’s decision. In an ideal world, his second child could have come a week or two early, so he could play every Test match. Rohit loves playing for India as much as I loved playing for Australia. He’s a great player and a wonderful captain, and he’ll be missed. Every single person must respect that decision of any man,” Clarke added
