On Wednesday, first the news of India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal deciding to play for Goa in domestic cricket, caught the attention of everyone, and then soon after there were reports of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma following the suit. Of course, there is no confirmation from the two players as such, but then the GCA had confirmed that they had approached many star players for the 2025/26 season.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Confirmed, Tilak Varma Not Moving to Goa
“We are currently in talks with many players from the country. I can’t give you a name right now. We will be finalising other professional players soon,” GCA Secretary Shambha Desai had told the Times of India. But now, as it turns out, Tilak Varma hasn’t sought any transfer. According to journalist N Jagannath Das, HCA secretary R Devraj confirmed that the southpaw batter will continue to play for Hyderabad.
Goa Taking Giant Strides in Domestic Cricket
As far as Yashasvi Jaiswal is concerned, his move is all but done. In fact, he has also received the NOC from the MCA for the same. “We reached out to Jaiswal some 8-10 days back; he got back to us after thinking over it, and now that he has asked for a NOC, the formalities and the required paperwork will be completed,” GCA’s Desai added.
All these radical changes could be the result of Goa being promoted to the Elite Level in the Ranji Trophy. In the recently concluded season, the team had won all their five league matches, and managed to reach the next round. The inclusion of the some of the Indian stars could really help them in the bid to get their hands on coveted title.
