Rohit Sharma’s Team India should be a very satisfied unit after they beat England 3-0 in the ODI series. Not only was it a clean sweep from the unit, but also a massively convincing one, where the visitors just could not challenge India, proving to be a perfect practice for the Champions Trophy.
Right from batters, to spinners, to the fast bowlers — everyone got perfect, much-needed practice. Throughout the three matches, there were some scintillating 100s, a few 50s, and some bowling efforts that made the heads turn. What even mattered the most, the veterans — Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli bounced back to form as well. InsideSport takes a look at Team India’s report card for the whole series.

Rohit Sharma (5.5/10)
Cuttack ODI is where Skipper Rohit was just exceptional, where he scored 119 from just 90 deliveries. Otherwise, he returned with two poor scores of 1 and 2. He showed in that innings in 2nd ODI, that he still has it in him to deliver, but just needs to remain patient. Good news for India before CT 2025 for sure.
Shubman Gill (9.5/10)
The Player of the Series, Shubman showed why he is so highly-rated in this format. In the 3 matches, he returned with scores of 87, 60 and 112. His seventh ton in 50-over cricket ensured 142-run win for India.. This performance from the ‘Prince’ will only hold India in good stead.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (2/10)
The reserve opener for the series, Yashasvi Jaiswal turned out to be a failure in his ODI debut. He had a chance to make it to the Champions Trophy, but following his failure, he was axed and a bowler was preferred instead.
Virat Kohli (5.5/10)
Virat Kohli missed the first match due to stiff neck, failed in the second, and scored 52 in the third. The signs are ominous — that he has returned to form. And teams like New Zealand, Pakistan and Bangladesh would be sweating for now. A big plus for India ahead of Champions Trophy.
Shreyas Iyer (8.5/10)
After Shubman, Shreyas Iyer was the most consistent Indian batter in the series. He scored 59, 44, and 78 in the three matches, and his strike-rate was way over 100. He tackled the short-pitch deliveries from Jofra Archer and Mark Wood rather well. He has made No. 4 spot his own.
Axar Patel (7/10)
Axar was superb when it came to the all-round role. He scored a fifty and a 40 in the series, and picked up three wickets in the series as well. He is a thorough team man, and showed he can fit into any role. He would be an asset in Dubai.
KL Rahul (5/10)
Let us just talk about Rahul’s batting for a moment. This IND vs ENG series has made it clear that India will play him ahead of Rishabh Pant. But then tinkering with his batting order did not help. Batting at no. 6 he scored 2 and 10, and then in the last match he scored 40 from 29. His effectiveness will depend on where he is made to bat.
Hardik Pandya (4/10)
Scores of 9, 10 and 17 don’t do justice to what he brings to the table. But he did manage to perform decently with the ball where he picked up three wickets. Despite this not-so-impressive show, he is still the most important member in the squad.
Ravindra Jadeja (8.5/10)
Jadeja’s show once again slipped under the radar. In the two matches he played, he picked up six wickets and chipped in with valuable 11 and 12 runs lower down the order. Just like Hardik, he can do anything on the field, and is one of the MVPs of the team.
Harshit Rana (7/10)
The pacer has suddenly become the preferred choice coach Gautam Gambhir. He ended up picking six wickets in the series, and that was enough for him to make it to CT squad. He showed that he can be expensive, but has a knack of picking up wickets with the old ball.
Kuldeep Yadav (5/10)
In his comeback series, Kuldeep wasn’t bad by an means, but lacked the big wickets that he usually gets for the team. He could just manage two in two matches. He looked fit, but then the rhythm wasn’t perfect. But he will improve further.
Mohammed Shami (4.5/10)
He picked up two wickets, but he wasn’t his old self. Just two wickets came in two matches, and a lot more is expected from him in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence. Maybe after this series, he will find his lost mojo, which is so very important for the team.
Varun Chakravarthy (2/10)
Varun has been picked for CT, but then his ODI debut didn’t go as planned. He returned with figures of 1/54 and then later got injured as well. He is a wicket-taker and India need him at his best in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Arshdeep Singh (6/10)
The left-arm pacer should have played more matches in the series but ended up playing only one. There he bagged 2/33, that just shows he might be India’s main pacer in CT. He was rather good in his solitary outing.
*Rishabh Pant did not get to play even a single match in the IND vs ENG series.
