Rishabh Pant fires warning at SRH, “No matter the score, we are gonna chase it down”

IPL 2025, SRH vs LSG: Rishabh Pant included pacer Avesh Khan in the playing XI, and that was the only change in Lucknow's playing XI.

DC vs LSG match was a nightmare for Rishabh Pant‘s team, where the team lost a close match in the last over, mostly due to the absence of their frontline pacer Avesh Khan. But come the SRH match, the good news is, the latter is fit now, and has made a comeback to the playing XI.

Nonetheless, the team had batted well, where Mitchell Marsh went on to score 72 from 36 and Nicholas Pooran was devastating with 75 from 30. At the toss for SRH vs LSG match, Pant opted to bowl first on a pitch that would be again good for batting, with the hope, that their batters will fire again.

The 27-year-old said at the toss, “We will bowl first. I think we got to get them out early and look to chase the target. It depends on the team combination, that’s why we want to bowl first. We have the batting to chase it down. The only change is Avesh comes back, Shahbaz misses out. We gonna chase whatever they score, doesn’t matter.”

Believes in Team to Chase Down Any Total

It is important to note here that LSG’s highest chase till date has been, 213 vs RCB in IPL 2023, and SRH has a knack of scoring 250 and beyond. In fact, they hold the highest score record in the IPL — 287, set in IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, Avesh’s presence would only bolster Lucknow’s bowling, who were guilty of leaking one boundary too many, in the death overs to DC, who chased down 210 with three balls to spare. Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam were particularly severe on Ravi Bishnoi, who returned with figures of 2/53 and Prince Yadav with figures of 0/47 in his four overs.

Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant(w/c), David Miller, Ayush Badoni, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi, Prince Yadav.
