RCB vs PBKS: Jonny Bairstow extends nightmarish run in India, Punjab opener falls for 8

RCB vs PBKS: Jonny Bairstow's lacklustre form in India soil continues, Punjab Kings opener departs for mere 8 runs

Jonny Bairstow’s poor form in India continues. Be it the IND vs ENG Test series or IPL 2024, the result is the same. The English enforcer is currently playing in IPL for Punjab Kings. He managed to score 9 runs in the previous game against DC. Against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the outcome is no different.

The PBKS opener survived just 6 balls before squandering his wicket. Trying to be over aggressive, Bairstow gave away a long and high catch which was comfortably captured by Virat Kohli.

Starting the Mohammed Siraj over with back to back boundaries, Bairstow tried to switch the gears. Siraj cleverly pulled the length a bit, prompting Bairstow to play the pull shot. The shot is mistimed and Virat Kohli makes no mistake in taking a simple catch.

Bairstow vs RCB:
114(56), Hyderabad, 2019
61(43), Dubai, 2020
12(13), Chennai, 2021
66(29), Brabourne, 2022
8(6), Bengaluru, 2024

Not just the IPL, Jonny Bairstow has been disappointing in the recently concluded IND vs ENG 5 match Test series. He managed scores of 37, 10, 25, 26, 0, 4, 38, 30, 29, 39 in his 10 innings. Come IPL 2024, he managed to contribute 9, 8 runs from 2 games respectively.
