IPL 2021 – RCB Playing XI vs PBKS: Hasaranga set to get another look – Virat Kohli doesn’t like to tinker with the winning combination but Sharjah pitch will force him to make an obvious change — drop a quick bowler for a spinner or a slow ball bowler when RCB take on Punjab Kings on Sunday. Here, the obvious choice is replacing George Gartner for Wanindu Hasaranga. Follow IPL 2021 live updates on insidesport.co and live streaming on Star Sports & Hotstar.

With 14 points in 11 games, RCB are just a solitary win away from qualifying for the IPL 2021 playoffs and will be aiming to do so when they take the field in Sharjah. While their XI gave RCB an easy win against Rajasthan Royals, the slow Sharjah pitch will force them to make the change, beginning with Wanindu Hasaranga coming back in.

The average total in Sharjah has been 125-150 and slower bowlers and spinners made merry on the pitch. As Geroge Gartner bowls in the region of 135-140kmph, he is likely to be dropped for Hasaranga. The slowness of the pitch will also keep Kyle Jamieson on the bench.

Probable RCB playing XI vs PBKS: Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Srikar Bharat, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Dan Christian, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Virat Kohli handed George Garton his IPL debut last time out against the Rajasthan Royals, but he didn’t yield great results, going for 1/30 in three overs. However, it’s not just the bowling figures, it is the pitch that will force them to make the change.

Hasaranga takes up the fourth overseas slot with AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and Dan Christian set to occupy the other three, meaning the likes of Kyle Jamieson and Tim David will have to be content with a spot on the bench. Shahbaz Ahmed’s heroics with the ball should ensure that he is retained as Yuzvendra Chahal’s spin twin, while Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace battery.
