Left-right combination:

In the last two seasons, RCB opted to go with a left-right opening combination in Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli. But Faf du Plessis has been successful batting with right-hander partner Ruturaj Gaikwad at CSK. Hence, he may not go with a left-right strategy.

If Faf du Plessis decide to take the left-right combination route, Anuj Rawat will be the preferred choice to open. Otherwise, Virat Kohli is all set for the opening role once again.

What will be bowling combination? – RCB will miss two strike bowlers in the first five besides Glenn Maxwell’s spin. Josh Hazlewood and Jason Behrendorff are both in Australia’s squad of Pakistan tour and will be missing the first five matches. In their absence, David Willey is expected to partner with Mohammed Siraj while Harshal Patel will be the death-over specialist. Sherfane Rutherford can also play the role of a fourth seamer if needed.

In the spin department, Wanindu Hasaranga will be the star with Mahipal Lomror’s left-arm spin. Shahbaz Ahmed will also be an option for left-arm spin but unfortunately, RCB do not have any quality spinner to bank on apart from Hasaranga.
