RCB Playing XI: No Akash Deep, Yash Dayal as sub for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024 opener against CSK

IPL 2024 begins with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on defending champions Chennai Super Kings. RCB is ready to go full throttle at their arch rivals. The Bengaluru outfits have opted for a well and balanced side. Alzaari Joseph makes his debut as does Yash Dayal who remains on the bench as an impact player.

Apart from the usual suspects, Akash Deep remains on the bench as an impact player. The highly experienced Karn Sharma will lead the spin charge against Chennai Super Kings.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Playing XI: Faf du Plessis(c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat(w), Karn Sharma, Alzarri Joseph, Mayank Dagar, Mohammed Siraj

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Subs: Yash Dayal, Akash Deep

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and opted to go and have a bat first. With a hint of dew in the ground, it has been a wise decision for the visitors to open the batting.

We’ll bat first. Looks a good wicket, conditions here are a bat first wicket. First time back here, great to see the Chennai fans again but I’m here with RCB and hopefully we can turn over a very good CSK team. Prep has been good, we need to turn up now,” RCB skipper Faf du Plessis said at the toss.

(On coach Andy Flower) A seasoned campaigner, brings that experience. (On auction) Really good, our bowling resources fit well. Got more backup. Hopefully, injuires don’t bother us too much. (On team combination) Alzarri Joseph comes in tonight, got a few spinners in the middle. And since we are batting first, we’ll see how it goes,” Faf concluded.
