RCB IPL 2023 Squad: IPL Auction 2023 LIVE: Royal Challengers Bangalore have garnered devoted support since the IPL’s beginning. The Red Army hasn’t been able to win the IPL title despite having a galaxy of players play for them throughout the years. RCB will want to add a few crucial players to its dugout for IPL 2023 with the same goal in mind. Finding Faf du Plessis’ successor as RCB captain going forward, dealing with the middle order’s fragility, and finding back-up fast bowlers are the most important challenges. The franchise spent INR 55.35 crore in the last edition’s auction. This year with a limited purse of under Rs 9 Crore, they can only target limited options. With key retentions like Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj for a price of INR 33 crore, the RCB would bank on their seniors to stay consistent right through the 2023 season.
At the end of the 2022 auction, they were left with a purse value of INR 1.55 crore. The franchise has kept almost the same team ahead of the upcoming auction.
RCB did pretty well in the last season, yet failed to make it to the playoffs. This could be a major reason behind the team management retaining the same set of players. The management has decided not to do major chopping and changing or leave big names out like other franchises. At 38, Faf du Plessis is getting no younger and is likely to be his last as a player. Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dinesh Karthik will be the other big names in the team.
Rajat Patidar and Shahbaz Ahmed, who were the finds of the last season for the RCB, have been retained. Mohammad Siraj, Harshal Patel, Siddarth Kaul, Akash Deep, and David Willey will handle the pacing duties on the team. Overall, they have kept the same team that played last season. So we might not see much change in the starting XI either.

Players RCB should target during IPL 2023 auction
Kyle Jamieson
Jamieson, who is returning from a back injury, was purchased in the 2021 auctions by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 15 crore — the highest bid for a New Zealand player and the fourth-highest in IPL history. However, the 27-year-old had struggled to meet the price tag when playing just nine of RCB’s 15 games. He is up for grabs, and with the kind of bounce, the tall pacer generates, he can be handful for the Red Army at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Reece Topley
Reece Topley has been the star white-ball performer with the ball for England in 2022. Whether it’s his bounce or accuracy with lines and lengths, Topley can move the ball both ways, and his height has helped him bowl well at the death. Topley could be a perfect foil for someone like Harshal Patel in the RCB line-up.
Vasuki Koushik
Karnataka’s pacer Vasuki Koushik finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. The speedster grabbed 18 wickets in just nine games with his side bowing out of the competition in the semi-finals. RCB who will be searching for a genuine pacer in the upcoming IPL auction, will want to bag Koushik.
