Former Chennai Super Kings star Ambati Rayudu, who is a fierce critic of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, seems to have turned into their fan. The ex-India cricketer is known for his vociferous opinions on RCB, having recently prayed that they don’t win IPL 2025. However, that seems to have changed after the opening game against KKR.
When Rayudu turned into RCB fan
In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Rayudu admitted that RCB had a solid side in IPL 2025. His remarks came after Kohli & co’s 7-wicket win at the Eden Gardens against the defending champions. The ex-CSK star was trolled by ex-RCB player Varun Aaron, who went on to ask his co-panelist what portion he had for the day that he had turned into a RCB fan.
“These guys have a solid side this year. They’re looking good,” Rayudu said. “I’ve always been. It’s just that sometimes people can’t digest the truth,” he argued with Aaron after the latter pointed out Rayudu’s anti-RCB stance.
When Rayudu didn’t want RCB to win IPL
RCB is just one of the three teams that have played all of the season of the IPL and are yet to win a title. In a podcast recently, Rayudu opined that it was a matter of time when RCB won the trophy but prayed it wouldn’t come this year.
“It’s only a matter of time before RCB wins a trophy, but I hope and pray that it doesn’t happen this year,” Ambati Rayudu said on the Raw Talks podcast.
Virat’s knock on Saturday showed that he had lost no love for the shortest format of the game. The RCB star looked in the zone and very much at a comfortable position in a situation he loves the most – a run-chase. His 59-run knock was studded with 4 fours and 3 sixes, striking at 163.89.
He set the tone for RCB’s run-chase with a 95-run partnership with Phil Salt. He then allowed skipper Rajat Patidar to fire at will while anchoring the innings from the other end. Eventually, RCB wrapped up the run-chase with 3.4 overs to spare, starting their IPL 2025 campaign on a dominating note.
