Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are on a reshuffling spree. After announcing Andy Flower and Mo Bobat as Head Coach and Director of Cricket in the IPL, RCB has announced Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) winner Luke Williams as their Head Coach for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season.
Williams replaces fellow Australia coach Ben Sawyer, who helmed the role in the inaugural edition of the WPL.
The 43-year-old has a successful and illustrious coaching career in franchise cricket.
As head coach for the Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL, he took the side to the finals in 2019 and 2021. Williams eventually took his side to glory, lifting the title in 2022.
His second coaching stint came with the Southern Brave in the Women’s Hundred 2023. Williams led the Braves to their first-ever title, working along with RCB-W skipper Smriti Mandhana.

I look forward to working with a playing group that will host a number of the most exciting players in Indian and world cricket as we look to bring a bold and exciting style of play and success to our huge and passionate fan base.”
Apart from his achievements in franchise cricket, Williams has also tasted success in domestic cricket. He coached the South Australian Scorpions to two runner-up finishes in his 4-season stint.
