RCB coach “rates Siraj highly” after GT pacer’s 3/19 but has no regrets releasing him

Siraj returned to the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, this time to haunt RCB with his outstanding 3/19 spell

RCB coach Andy Flower heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj after his Player of the Match winning performance against his former team. The Hyderabad pacer returned to the M Chinnaswamy stadium for the first time after being released by RCB and made an instant impact. Flower lauded Siraj for his line and lengths in the contest.

RCB okay with not having Siraj

Speaking at the post match press conference, the RCB coach said that the team still rates Siraj highly despite releasing him. However, he remarked that RCB had had a good auction and were happy with the squad they have.

We all rate Siraj very highly, and he we love him. I think we had a good auction. I wish him all the success in the world. We are happy with the squad that we have got,” Flower said.

Siraj finished with outstanding figures of 3/19 from four overs against RCB. The pacer turned out to be a giant killer, getting the big wickets of Salt, Livingstone and Padikkal.

Siraj bowled very well didn’t he? It is great for him to come here and do that. It thought he bowled an outstanding spell with the new ball. His lines were tight, and lengths were good. He threatened the stumps a lot,” Flower added.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Siraj revealed that he had felt emotional for a brief bit at the start of the game. He was released by RCB after spending 7 long years with the team.

I was a bit emotional. I was here for 7 years, changed jersey from red to blue and was emotional but once I got the ball I was fine. I had been playing consistently, but during the break I corrected my mistakes and worked on my fitness,” Siraj said.
