RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell all but rules himself out of RCB vs KKR, but not because of form this time

Maxwell had made himself unavailable for RCB's previous tie against SRH, claiming his form did not warrant a place in RCB's playing XI.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have had a torrid start to their IPL 2024 campaign. Faf du Plessis’s side has only won one game in their first 7 matches. To add to their woes, RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is likely to be out of the KKR vs RCB game due to a hip strain.

Maxwell asked to be dropped

Glenn Maxwell has not yet performed even close to his potential for RCB in IPL 2024. The all-rounder made himself unavailable for their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, it did not matter much in terms of results as Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost the match. Maxwell after the game revealed he had asked the RCB team management to be dropped due to his poor form.

RCB sans Maxwell for game vs KKR?

Now, it looks like Maxwell will not be a part of the RCB team that travel to Kolkata to play against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 21st. However, unlike last time, Maxwell will not be unavailable because of his form, but for a slight injury he is nursing.

I’ve actually got a little bit of a hip strain so I’ve got a few more days off and during recovery,” Maxwell said on ESPN’s ‘Around the Wicket’ show.

So I’ve got a little period here where I’m still training, still trying to get myself right. If there is a spot that becomes available, I’ll obviously put my hand up and take it. It’s not one of those things where I’ve set a date that I’ll be out for three games then I’ll come back whenever I’m ready. That’s that’s not how it works. I haven’t been at a level that’s good enough to warrant a spot on the side this year,” he added.
