On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the squad for the first two Test matches against England, marking the commencement of a five-match series at home this year. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Indian side recently secured its inaugural Test win in Cape Town on January 4, catapulting them to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.

The squad strategically includes four spinners, with Ravindra Jadeja being a prominent name. India’s reliance on the spin department is evident as they aim to outmanoeuvre England in home conditions. Kuldeep Yadav’s inclusion provides valuable cover for the established spin trio of R Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

In the pace department, Avesh Khan joins the battery led by designated vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah. The fast-bowling options also feature Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar, emphasizing the team’s well-rounded approach to tackle the challenges posed by the English side.
