If you have Ravindra Jadeja in your team, who will surely allow him to bowl. But India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma thought differently. Rohit used Jadeja as a specialist spinner while it was Axar Patel who got his chance to bowl 3 overs in the game. Why? Rohit didn’t feel the need to use Jadeja in the IND vs USA clash in the ICC T20 World Cup.
India used 6 bowlers in the game. But, Ravindra Jadeja didn’t get a chance to roll his arms. In fact, Rohit Sharma gave an over to Shivam Dube to bowl in the tournament. While it was the pacers who took the majority of the wickets in a tricky Nassau Country track, Axar managed to bag a solitary wicket.
Why no bowling for Jadeja?
It is safe to assume that since the pitch didn’t provide much assistance to the spinners, Rohit gave a solitary over to Shivam Dube. The rest of the pacers with the likes of Bumrah, Siraj, Arshdeep and Hardik bowled well.
India with 2 wins on their bag, needs another win to secure their spot in the Super 8. And with the remaining games being rather warmup matches, Rohit was prudent to play out his gamble.
Ravindra Jadeja not bowling, means he has less fatigue, and will be more fit and ready for the next game.
