He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team. It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that calibre joining the team is a huge morale boost as well,” Niraj Odedra, Saurashtra’s coach, told Sportstar.

The Elite Group B matchup between Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu is set to be an away contest. The game will be contested at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Jadeja’s second home ground, from January 24 to January 27. He is an IPL player for Chennai Super Kings and served as captain of the Yellow Army throughout the first half of the 2022 season.
Jadeja will be playing in his first game in five months. The 34-year-old underwent surgery for a knee issue he had last year. He was unable to play in the 2022 T20 World Cup due to injury. He was selected for the Bangladesh tour but was unable to participate.
He has been selected by the selectors for the first two Test matches against Australia, but he must first prove his fitness in the Ranji Trophy. If India chooses not to field three spinners, Jadeja will have to make way for Axar Patel in the playing XI along with R Ashwin. Kuldeep Yadav might have to wait for his moment given the presence of Jadeja. He was unexpectedly left off the starting lineup for the second Test against Bangladesh.
