Ravindra Jadeja gets out via obstructing the field, becomes 1st CSK player to get dismissed in this bizarre manner

Chennai Super Kings suffered a bizarre blow in their latest IPL encounter when star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for obstructing the field

In an unusual turn of events during the CSK vs RR IPL 2024 match, Chennai Super Kings’ star Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for obstructing the field. While CSK won the match, Jadeja became the first player from the Chennai-based franchise to get out via this manner.

How did Jadeja’s dismissal take place?

The incident unfolded when Avesh Khan delivered a back-of-length ball outside the off-stump. Jadeja, attempting a late cut, sent the ball towards deep third.

While there was a possibility of a second run, Ruturaj Gaikwad at the other end seemed uninterested. As the throw came in from outfield, keeper Sanju Samson aimed for the stumps at Jadeja’s end. It was this time when the all-rounder was caught off guard. The ball struck Jadeja’s back, prompting a sharp appeal from Samson for obstructing the field.

The third umpire, Anil Chaudhary, took a closer look at the replay and deemed Jadeja’s actions deliberate. It appeared that Jadeja watched the ball travel before changing his course and potentially hindering the throw at the stumps. Consequently, Jadeja was adjudged out, much to the dismay of the CSK camp. Ruturaj Gaikwad attempted to reason with the umpires, but the decision stood, forcing Jadeja to depart for the pavilion.
