India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history after completing 500 wickets in Test cricket. He becomes only the second Indian after Anil Kumble to achieve the feat. Ashwin completed the milestone on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot.
Ashwin needed one wicket when he took the ball in third Test and he completed it after picking the wicket of England opener Zak Crawley. With that, he also became the second fastest bowler to bag 500 Test wickets after Muttiah Muralitharan.
The veteran off-spinner is only the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to enter the 500-wicket club.
The 36-year-old is only the fifth spinner in cricket history to enter the 500-wicket club, solidifying his status as one of India’s all-time greats.
