Ravichandran Ashwin became the second Indian to scalp 500 Test wickets. He did so by dispatching Zac Crawley in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot. After stumps on Day 2, Ashwin reflected back on his career. He went on to claim that post 2020 Ashwin has changed his view with respect to the game.
With 619 Test wickets, only Anil Kumble stands ahead of Ashwin. Kumble even told Ashwin not to hand up his boots before reaching 630 Test wickets. Ashwin on the other hand claims that post 2020 he wishes he rediscovered the joy living his life again.
“Look, I’d be lying if I said that fine. And it doesn’t mean anything. It probably does at the moment I does not sunk in. But like I like I said right 2020 onwards, the way I look at the game, the way my life has been has been very different to what it was before that. I wish I discovered the joy of living again,” Ashwin said after stumps on Day 2.
Ashwin reflected back on his life’s journey. He claims that after reaching the highest point on his life, the biggest trouble is rediscovering his joy in his life.
“I’m sure a lot of cricketers who played the sport. can watch what I’m saying you do? watch faces where you lose the love for the game for a bit and you can it’s like a profession, the moment it happens definitely can get very monotonous and very, very lonely. So for me, the rediscovery and the joy of even playing the game is the highest point and the greatest unraveling of who I am happening in 2020,” Ashwin concluded.
