Ravichandran Ashwin marks his 100th Test appearance with twin-strike in Dharamshala

Ashwin passed 500 wickets in Test cricket in Rajkot, becoming only the second Indian after Anil Kumble to do so.

Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin marked his 100 Test appearance with a double-strike as the Indian bowling contingent rattled Ben Stokes and co in the IND vs ENG 5th Test in Dharamshala. In three deliveries in the 49th over, Ashwin took down Tom Hartley and Mark Wood as England slumped to 184/8 in 51 overs. England had earlier won the toss and chose to bat.

Ravichandran Ashwin plays his 100th Test

As Ashwin walked into the Dharamshala pitch today, he became the only 14th Indian to play 100 Tests. The Tamil Nadu spinner made his Test debut in 2011 and has since become a regular in the Indian Test squad, particularly at home.

He surpassed Kumble as India’s highest wicket-taker in home Tests, while also breaking the 350-wicket milestone in Tests at home during the current series.

Ashwin has taken 507 wickets in 99 Tests, 156 in 116 ODIs, and 72 in 65 T20Is. In Tests, he averages 23.91 with the ball and has 35 five-wicket hauls and eight ten-wicket hauls.
