Ravichandran Ashwin eyes going past Anil Kumble to achieve yet another record in IND vs ENG 5th Test

The India vs England 5th Test will commence from 7th March in Dharmashala

In a remarkable feat, Ravichandran Ashwin recently made history by reaching the milestone of 500 Test wickets during the Rajkot Test. Thus placing him second among Indian bowlers, trailing only Anil Kumble, who has 619 wickets. Now, the seasoned Indian off-spinner is eyeing yet another record to take over the former Indian Captain.

In the subsequent fourth Test held in Ranchi, Ashwin surpassed Kumble’s record for the most Test wickets by an Indian on home soil. Kumble previously held the record with 350 wickets in 63 Tests, but Ashwin eclipsed this during the Ranchi Test, amassing 354 wickets in 59 Tests.

Additionally, Ashwin equalled Kumble’s record for the most Test fifers for India, securing his 35th fifer in the second innings against England in the Ranchi match.

Ravichandran Ashwin eyes another record in Dharmashala:

Ashwin’s remarkable bowling performance in Ranchi not only helped India regain momentum but also set the stage for potentially breaking another of Kumble’s records in the upcoming fifth Test in Dharamshala on March 7.

Should he secure a fifer in the fifth Test, Ashwin will surpass Kumble’s record and become the Indian bowler with the most fifers in Tests, with a tally of 36.
