Ravi Bishnoi’s loss in Adil Rashid’s gain as England spinner ranked No.1 T20 bowler

India's young spinner Ravi Bishnoi had a decent 5-match T20I series against Australia where he grabbed 9 wickets

India’s young spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who has started showing shades of the many ways he can spin his side to victory, has lost out to a fellow spinner from England in the latest T20I rankings for bowlers. Adil Rashid occupied the top spot, pushing Bishnoi to second. The England spinner has been rewarded for consistent form in the Caribbean against the West Indies.

Having made his debut in 2022, Bishnoi has played 21 T20Is with 34 scalps to his name, with an impressive average of 17.38 and an astonishing economy rate of 7.14. His tricky googlies and well-hidden variations have already set him apart in the international cricketing arena.

The young talent last played for India against Australia on December 3 but was dropped for the tour of South Africa. Bishnoi took 9 wickets in 5T20Is against Australia, showcasing his ability to lead India’s spin department in the absence of other senior spinners. The spinner’s form in the series against Australia propelled him to the number one ranking for bowlers in T20I.

Making his debut in February, his remarkable feat saw Bishnoi surpass the likes of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, England’s Adil Rashid, and SL’s Maheesh Theekshana.

India looks forward to finalizing its squad for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2024. With only six T20Is scheduled before the marquee event, Bishnoi is eyeing a key role in the bowling department. His consistent brilliance, showcased by a commendable economy rate of 7.14, positions him favorably among India’s current crop of bowlers.

However, Bishnoi’s upcoming performances in the series against South Africa, the IPL, and subsequent T20Is will play a pivotal role in securing his spot in the national team for the prestigious tournament.
