Speaking to The New Indian Express, Ashwin said that he is still open to captaining India and that he is not losing sleep over it.
He said: “Once I hang up my boots, I think I’ll have an answer for that. But until then my dreams will be open, I’ll be looking forward to opportunities“.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer had previously led an IPL franchise for two seasons. Ashwin captained Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) during the 2018 and 2019 IPL season. Under Ashwin, PBKS won 16 matches out 28 matches with a win percentage of 43. He then headed to Delhi Capitals in 2020.
