Wow, that’s a wrap for the IPL mega auction, with many players entering the pool and teams intelligently picking up talent to complete their rosters. When it comes to defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, they too packed their squad with big names and selected some quality players. However, they did make a few misses, which could haunt them in the upcoming IPL 2025.
If we see before the auction, they retained key players like Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and their MVP, Sunil Narine, who are expected to perform well. During the auction, there was much to celebrate for them and only a little to regret. See, look at their KKR composition after the completion of the IPL 2025 mega auction and why the last edition’s champions deserve a rating of 7/10.

KKR Hits at IPL Auction 2025
Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders did decently well in the auction. They went for some players who helped them to win IPL 2024, and KKR will hope that players like Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmullah Gurbaz will work their magic once again. Overall, they have bought an improved squad. What caught attention was that they secured players at reasonable prices, apart from Venkatesh Iyer, who was picked up at a stealer price of Rs 23.75 crore. They have a solid batting setup, with already retained players like Rinku Singh and Andre Russell in the middle order, alongside re-signed Iyer and Gurbaz. Also, experienced Quinton de Kock is in the mix, which will only boost their strong batting lineup, crucial for the upcoming long 2-month IPL. Surely, De Kock, Gurbaz, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are their best bets.
KKR Misses at IPL Auction 2025
Only thing that came into the limelight is that they have a relatively weaker bowling lineup, and the reason for this is not a lack of quality bowlers, but because they have a wicket-taking batter like Quinton de Kock, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who should play. On the other hand, they have a pack of impressive batters, some of whom they might be willing to include in the playing XI. If they do, they will need to leave out some quality pacers, which could harm their team.
