Rasikh Salam makes case for DC retention ahead of IPL 2025 auction with 3/15 spell

Rasikh Salam has given a reason for Delhi Capitals (DC) to consider retaining him ahead of IPL 2024 auction with his 3/15 spell against UAE

If Delhi Capitals were not considering Rasikh Dar Salam as one of their retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, then they should surely reconsider. The J&K pacer bowled an outstanding spell in IND A vs UAE match in Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Monday, rattling the middle order. Salam was picked up by DC before IPL 2024 for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.

Rasikh Salam makes case for DC retention ahead of IPL 2025

Rasikh Salam’s triple strike saw the UAE batting order having a tough time facing the bowler. Nilansh Keswani was the bowler’s first victim as he attempted a big hit but was caught out by Vaibhav Arora. In the very next delivery, he dismissed Vishnu Sukumaran for a golden duck. While he missed out on his hat-trick, he got rid of Syed Haider Shah in the very same over off the penultimate delivery. Salam finished his spell with figures of 3//15.

Rasikh Salam has played 11 IPL matches so far and has taken 9 wickets to date. In 2024, the bowler took nine wickets for DC, with best figures of 3/34 against Mumbai Indians. While he made his IPL debut in 2019, he went wicketless in both his first season and in 2022. He has two three-wicket hauls from IPL 2024 to his name. While Rasikh has not been a part of the retention talks when it comes to DC, his performance against UAE could very well make the IPL side consider him as one of their retentions. The bowler could either be retained as an uncapped player (for Rs 4 cr) or we can perhaps see DC use the RTM option as well.

Salam’s destructive spell in the game against UAE saw India A restrict the opposition to just 107 runs. India A have already opened their account in the ongoing Emerging Teams Asia Cup, having beaten Pakistan by seven runs in their opening game. Another win is surely on the cards for the young Men in Blue.
