Rashid Khan is slated to make a comeback into the game’s longer format. The Afghanistan Cricket Team all-rounder has been recently plagued with injuries which hindered his play time in Test cricket. But Rashid Khan is to make a comeback in Tests against Zimbabwe.
Interestingly, following the Test series, Rashid Khan will have a tough choice to make. He plays for the Mumbai Indians franchise in SA20 and ILT20. And with both tournaments starting at the same time, it remains to be seen what Rashid Khan chooses.
Rashid Khan in a fix?
Recovering from his injury, Rashid Khan featured in the white-ball format for Afghanistan but had kept his distance from Test cricket. But now, he is making a comeback against Zimbabwe, after missing out on the previous Test series against New Zealand.
“We are confident that Rashid will play for us in the Test series against Zimbabwe. He (Rashid) had a long recovery due to his back surgery and we wanted him to recover fully before taking the load of playing Test cricket. Now he looks fine and ready to feature for us in Test cricket,” ACB Chief Executive Naseeb Khan told Cricbuzz.
The two Test matches will conclude on 6th January. And herein lies the problem. SA20 kick starts on 9th January while ILT20 will start on 11th January.
It remains to be seen what Rashid Khan chooses. Meanwhile, Rashid’s focus will also remain on his National side with the ICC Champions Trophy looming large on the horizon.
