Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif claimed that Rashid Khan was greater than Wasim Akram. His remarks came ahead of Afghanistan’s maiden Champions Trophy campaign. Khan will play a crucial role in ensuring Afghanistan’s success in the marquee event.
“Rashid Khan greater than Wasim Akram”
In a talk show on Geo News, Latif claimed that Rashid had a bigger stature compared to the legendary Wasim Akram. He heaped praise on the Afghanistan spinner for putting the country on the map and getting recognition. Afghanistan will take on South Africa on February 21 in their tournament opener.
“Rashid has brought Afghanistan on the map, he has helped them get recognition. He is greater than Wasim Akram. I am sorry to say but Rashid’s stature is bigger,” Latif said.

Further, Latif urged Rashid Khan to improve Afghanistan’s Test team and play more matches against Pakistan.
“I have only one piece of advice for Rashid Khan. ‘Improve your test team and play more Test matches against Pakistan,’” he added.
Rashid has grown leaps and bounds ever since he made his debut in 2015. He recently overtook Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in T20s, with 633 scalps to his name. In 111 ODIs, he has 198 wickets, averaging 19.87.
