Baroda secured an innings and 98-run victory over Odisha while Karnataka and Delhi remained firmly in the driver's seat in round 3 of Ranji Trophy on Day 3

Day 3 of the third round of Ranji Trophy matches was a batter’s day out majorly, with some teams going to wrap up their matches on the penultimate day. Baroda sealed a massive innings and 38-run win against Odisha, thanks to Krunal Pandya’s ton and Ninad Rathva’s six-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Karnataka batter Mayank Agarwal starred with a 105-run knock in the rain-hit tie against Bihar. Teams will be aiming to push towards a result on the final day (Tuesday) of the third round Ranji Trophy matches.

Krunal Pandya’s ton powers Baroda to victory

Baroda skipper Krunal Pandya led from the front, bringing up his 3rd first-class century. He finished his innings with 119 runs, striking 15 fours and four sixes to power his team to a massive 456 runs in response to Odisha’s 193-run 1st innings total. In reply, Odisha were bundled out for just 165 runs, with Ninad Rathva grabbing 6 wickets to wreak havoc on the batters. Baroda secured an innings and 98-run win, securing their third victory of this season.

Harshit Rana turns all-rounder

After impressing with a five-wicket haul on Day 2, Harshit Rana returned to haunt Assam, this time with the bat. The tailender slammed 59 runs off 78 deliveries, while Siddhant Sharma scored 89 runs to guide Delhi to 454 in the 1st innings. Four Delhi batters scored more than fifty runs, with the middle-order and the tailenders doing most of the run-scoring for Delhi. Assam were left reeling at 44/3 at the end of play on Day 3.

Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey put Karnataka in driver’s seat

Mayank Agarwal finally broke free from the shackles of poor form as he smashed a century in Karnataka’s game against Bihar. The batter went on to score 105 runs from 131 deliveries before he was stumped out off Himanshu Singh’s delivery. Manish Pandey scored a whirlwind 56-run knock only to be stopped in his tracks by Himanshu Singh once again. Karnataka finished Day 3 at 287/7.

Chahal turns ‘The Wall’ yet again

Yuzvendra Chahal seems to be hell bent on proving his mettle in the red-ball format, this time with the bat. The Haryana spinner batted out 142 deliveries while scoring just 27 runs, helping his side build the lead. He was involved in a 67-run partnership with H Patel. Haryana ended Day 3 at 435/9 and lead by 127 runs in the game against Madhya Pradesh.
