The second round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 matches will get underway on October 18, with special focus on Mumbai and Sanju Samson

As round two matches of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 get underway on October 18, all eyes will be on two entities in particular – Sanju Samson and Mumbai. While the Kerala batter-keeper will return to domestic cricket and lead his side, defending champions MUM will be eyeing to bounce back after losing to Baroda in the tournament opener. The second round matches involve some good contests, including Mumbai vs Maharashtra, Kerala vs Karnataka, Delhi vs Tamil Nadu, UP vs Haryana and more.

Sanju Samson to kick off Ranji Trophy campaign

Sanju Samson recently revealed that he had been asked to focus on red-ball cricket by the leadership group and that he had been informed that he was in the consideration of the selectors for Tests. With an eye on an highly unlikely spot in the Indian Test side, the keeper-batter will commence his domestic red-ball campaign for Kerala by carrying on from the momentum he received from his century in the Duleep Trophy. He has 3819 runs from 64 first-class games since having made his debut in 2011 and will be looking to better his figures. Kerala will take on Karnataka in at the KSCA Ground in Alur.

Mumbai eye comeback after defeat in opener

Defending champions Mumbai started off their Ranji Trophy season on a losing note as the succumbed to Baroda in their very first game.
